Staff
Our contributors’ financial support enables TBEC’s staff and volunteers to carry out an ambitious program to advance public school improvement in Texas. The work of a relatively small staff has been leveraged many times by the efforts of volunteer supporters who serve on the Board of Directors and Coordinating Committee.
Ken Zornes, Executive Director joined TBEC in April, 2005 from Dallas where he was an administrator with the Dallas County Community College District. He also served six years as a trustee on the Dallas ISD School Board, serving two terms as Board President. Ken works closely with TBEC’s Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and Coordinating Committee in their efforts to improve public education in Texas. He monitors key legislation affecting Texas public education and over sees the day-to-day operation of the organization.
Dr. Orbry Holden, formerly Executive Director of the Texas Association of School Boards and a member of the University of Texas faculty, has been Director of Performance Management since 2000. Dr. Holden is responsible for outreach with education organizations and some of TBEC’s high school initiatives.
Shannan Rolfsen, Development and Communications Director, came to TBEC in May, 2005 from the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & South Texas and has worked in the business and non-profit sector for the last several years. She is responsible for expanding our contact with potential members, organizing leadership briefings in Texas communities, recruiting Board of Directors and Coordinating Committee members, and organizing the Annual VIP Briefing.
